Boys and Girls Were Divided by Town Hall

ALBAN C Harris, of Pennine Close, Immingham, got in touch after reading memories of the Grimsby Corporation Grammar School. He told us: "I was a pupil there from 1939 to 1946. "In the photograph of the school buildings, the one on the left of the Town Hall was the girls' school, and the one on the right, just visible, was the boys' school, which I attended. In 1940, the Fire Brigade took over the girls' school and the police took over the boys', as they needed more space because of the war.
