Bomber Pilot's Medals Sold at Auction

Summary


VALUABLE medals belonging to a fearless Keelby-born bomber pilot were sold for Pounds 3,500 at an auction in London.

Flying Officer George Bertram Willerton, who was born in Keelby in 1917, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as four other medals, in the summer of 1943 when he was 26, weeks after he was shot down over the Bay of Biscay.
