NEITHER surprise nor, indeed, amusement accompanied the news that hornets put 26 Lincolnshire people into hospital in the last 12 months. I shall never forget the feeling of horror (despite sounding a bit wimpish) when a year or two ago I disturbed an over-wintering queen hornet in my compost heap. We've all seen big wasps.
