THE crowd at Wombwell were privileged to witness a display of karting masterclass racing in the latest round of the Formula Blue Northern Challenge. This was the final round of the NKRA Northern Challenge and Mathew was determined that victory would be his. It was important to him to win today in preparation for the grand final at Glan y Gors on August 29 and 30, and also to give him an edge over his fellow competitors. What a race it turned out to be - Mathew and current champion Jamie Crease gave one of the best displays of aggressive, inspirational and sometimes unbelievable skill to produce one of the most exciting races I have ever seen.

The lead changed places many times, culminating in a fantastic move by Mathew on the penultimate bend of the last lap to take victory by the slimmest of margins from Jamie.
