Idon't know what other folks' experience of the public sector walk-out was, but as far as we were concerned, the unions might just as well have called the whole thing off, for all the effect it had on us. I mean, it wasn't rubbish collection day, I'd renewed my library books online, we've no children at school and neither of us had a hospital appointment. The only public service we used was the the postmen, who were working as hard as ever.
Of course, we knew that working parents with children would be massively inconvenienced if the schools closed - and they must have felt very aggrieved, considering whatever grumbles the teachers had were nothing to do with them.See the full content of this document
