Summary

March 30, 1954: The announcement that the laying-up of deep sea trawlers in summer was to amount to 25 per cent of the deep water fleets concerned, compared with 20 per cent the previous year, was met with a mixed reception in Grimsby circles. Trawler officers and fishermen generally viewed the step with some concern because of the unemployment which could be caused, and the drift of fishermen away from the industry.

March 30, 1957: Around 150 pensioners went to Grimsby Town Hall to see their petition to the Government for an increase of Pounds 1 a week handed to Kenneth Younger. The petition was part of one organised by the National Federation of Old Age Pensions Associations.
