AT Pounds 1,600 per hour to operate, is the police helicopter a criminal waste of money? That is the question being asked today after it was revealed that Oscar 99 - Humberside Police's helicopter - was deployed to 729 incidents in North East Lincolnshire between January 1 and November 17 last year - costing approximately Pounds 339,200.

The information was revealed following a Freedom of Information request by the Grimsby Telegraph, prompting North East Lincolnshire Councillor Stewart Swinburn (Cons, Immingham) to question whether the money may be better spent elsewhere.
