GEORDIES, and there are many in our patch, must be seething at the decision to rename St James' Park the Sports Direct Stadium. Jackie Milburn must be turning in his grave, or revolving on his statue. For Town fans it somehow devalues the goals scored there by the likes of Kevin Drinkell, Mike Brolly and Jim Dobbin.
I can understand giving a NEW ground a new name, such as the Emirates, Reebok, Stadium of Light, KC and Britannia, but to change something that is so symbolic to the identity of a great community is a disgrace. I can't think of anything worse, other than renaming the city Sunderland!
