RE: Ray Lawrance's inquiry about the spelling of Scartho, I enclose a copy of a map, dated 1690.
There is no "E" here but the spelling is a little different. The "E" was, I believe, removed from Humberston in the 1930s by the GPO to avoid confusion with Humberstone in Leicestershire, and Cottagers Plot was originally Cottagers Platt, but I blame a typing error at Humberside Council for that one.See the full content of this document
