Health experts are urging people to stock up their medicine cabinets in time for Christmas and the new year. Although some GP practices and pharmacies will be open over Christmas, many will be closed over the festive season and people are being urged to make sure they have enough medication at home to deal with coughs, sneezes and stomach upsets. A spokesman for NHS North of England said: "Prevention is always better than cure, so by making sure you have everything you need ahead of the festive period you will give yourself the best chance of staying out of hospital.
