THE Scunthorpe steel industry has claimed many British, and even international, records over the past century - particularly for the quantity and quality of its products and for major initiatives and developments.
But an unusual first was secured by Appleby-Frodingham in September 1972, which had nothing to do with world-famous blast furnaces The Four Queens, making steel or rolling plates, sections, blooms, billets and rod coils.
