MURDERER Mark Bratton has been jailed for life for savagely battering his former step-father to death - and has given no explanation of his crime.

Vulnerable 62-year-old grandad David Bentley - who was drunk and could not properly defend himself - took up to three hours to die after Bratton smashed him with an ornamental brass eagle and attacked him with a broken vodka bottle and a fork, a court heard.
