Summary

Here is how some fans reacted to the sacking of Mike Newell last night on our website, sportgrimsby.co.uk Well, I for one wish Mr Newell the best for the future... pity he couldn't do his best for Grimsby. Still, good luck Woodsy. Up the Mariners Matty D, Louth I would just like to say, thank you John for listening to the majority of the fans and taking action now before it was too late. I, like many others, thought that Newell would do great things at this club, but he was no Ronseal and did not do what he said on the tin. By Christmas we would have surely been dead and buried. Let's be honest, it's still going to be hard, but we have a better chance of getting somewhere with someone who gives a damn about this club. I'll start by asking for Peter Taylor and surely (after proving himself over so many years with the club, both in passion and work ethic) a number two of Woodsy.

Captain Johnboy Ridiculous, who else is going to want to manage Town now. Mike Newell is a quality manager and he can only work with what he's got. It's the players at fault for any dip in form, and the board's fault for only letting him work with a series of loans or buying one or two players. Relegation for sure. Might actually teach the board a lesson that a manager needs time to build a team - not a year, several. Take a look at the Premiership, if you keep your manager you're bound to get better.
